As of July 6th, APS offices are open to staff and invited visitors. The Society will remain closed to the public for at least the rest of the summer. Library & Museum staff now have access to our collections and will respond to reference and photoduplication requests as soon as possible. However, please note that response times may be delayed due to increased demand. The Society will continue a robust slate of virtual programs throughout the summer and fall. Read more about virtual programming and resources that can be accessed remotely. For further information on the APS reopening and its COVID response, please click here.

Welcome to the new American Philosophical Society website! This site features a mobile-friendly design and more intuitive navigation to meet the needs of APS Members, Friends, researchers, and visitors. The new look and feel includes an improved layout and enhanced multimedia content to better highlight connections among APS collections and research by APS Members and fellows. We hope you will spend some time exploring our online exhibitions, grant and fellowship opportunities, publications, and more.

Our new blog provides a behind-the-scenes glimpse into goings-on at the Society with articles from APS staff, interns, fellows, and grant recipients. A set of inaugural posts is now live on the blog, and new additions will be posted regularly. Visit the blog to read the latest articles about our current conservation projects, new library acquisitions, and discoveries from the vaults.

We’ve taken great care to transition to this new site as seamlessly as possible, but if you notice any errors or can’t find something, please contact communications@amphilsoc.org. If you have done research at the APS or would like to share work that we have sponsored or inspired, please reach out about writing a blog post. We hope you find the new site easy to use and we would love to hear your feedback.
