Grace Maria Eberhardt is a PhD Candidate in History and Latina/o Studies graduate minor at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Grace uses an interdisciplinary approach in her work by drawing on the history of science, U.S. political history, Latina/o studies, and public history. She is researching the scientific racialization of Latinos in the U.S. in her dissertation, tentatively titled “The Latino Count: Biological, Statistical, and Bureaucratic Classification of Latinos in the U.S. 1910–2030.” In 2023, Grace’s undergraduate research greatly contributed to the University of Puget Sound’s Board of Trustees unanimous decision to rename the Puget Sound Museum of Natural History.
