APS Elects 2026 Class of New Members
The American Philosophical Society (APS) is proud to welcome our new Members elected to the Society in 2026. Election to the American Philosophical Society honors extraordinary accomplishments in all fields spanning STEM and the humanities. The earliest Members of the APS included founders of the country like Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, and Thomas Paine, who set out to spread “useful knowledge” throughout the young nation and the world. Since its inception in 1743, the APS has welcomed 5,896 Members who continue to do this important work as pioneers and changemakers in their fields. New inductees are nominated by existing Members and join an active cohort of some of the world’s most innovative minds.
