Ella Scalese is the Programs Assistant at the American Philosophical Society. She earned her M.A. in history from Temple University, where she focused broadly on public history, and specifically on historical sites with human remains within Philadelphia. She is fascinated by how death and public memory are made manifest in 19th-century anatomy museums and cemeteries within the Philadelphia landscape. Her work is influenced by her B.A. in anthropology from Susquehanna University, where she centered her research around museum studies. Before her current role as a Programs Assistant, Ella also spent time working with the APS on The Revolutionary City project as a Levitt Fellow with the Center for Digital Scholarship.
