Sam Holley-Kline is a Collegiate Fellow in the University Honors program at the University of Maryland, College Park. After earning his Ph.D. in anthropology from Stanford University in 2019, he was Dean’s Postdoctoral Scholar in the Department of History at Florida State University. His book manuscript, tentatively titled “In the Shadow of El Tajín: Labor and Landscape in a Mexican Archaeological Site,” explores the recent Indigenous histories silenced during the excavation of the ancient past. Holley-Kline has recently published work on the history and politics of archaeology in the Journal of Social Archaeology, Ethnohistory, and Archaeological Dialogues.
