Patrick Walsh (John C. Slater Predoctoral Fellowship in the History of Science) is a dissertator in UW-Madison’s History of Science, Technology and Medicine Program. His project tracks the emergence of clinical endocrinology in the U.S., 1889-1919, with a special focus on the role of Big Pharma in commercializing the field in the early twentieth century. At the APS, he’ll be consulting the collections of endocrinologists Walter B. Cannon, George Washington Corner and the medical thought leader Simon Flexner. Patrick is originally from Brisbane, Australia, and has been living in Philly for the past 12 months with his husband & geriatric ginger cat.
