As of July 6th, APS offices are open to staff and invited visitors. The Society will remain closed to the public for at least the rest of the summer. Library & Museum staff now have access to our collections and will respond to reference and photoduplication requests as soon as possible. However, please note that response times may be delayed due to increased demand. The Society will continue a robust slate of virtual programs throughout the summer and fall. Director of Membership & Prizes

Nora Monroe is the Director of Membership & Prizes at the American Philosophical Society, a position she has held since 1997. She is responsible for the nomination and election process, induction of new members, maintaining biographical essays and contact information for all members, staffing the Society’s many committees with members, and working with the committee to elect the Society’s officers. She coordinates the selection committees for the Society’s ten prizes and plans the award ceremonies held at the annual meetings. She received a B.A. with Distinction at Ohio State University in film theory and history and went on to spend five years working towards an MFA in film production at Temple University. She taught courses in film sound at the University of the Arts for ten years.
