American novelist, editor, and professor Toni Morrison (1931-2019) was one of the most influential authors of the 20th century. She was honored with awards including the Pulitzer Prize, the Presidential Medal of Freedom, and the Nobel Prize. Morrison was elected to the APS in 1994.
