Robert Strettell Jones was a Philadelphia merchant, public official, director of the Library Company of Philadelphia, and active member of the American Philosophical Society. Following the Revolution, he moved to Burlington, New Jersey, where he amassed a sizable library, established a garden, and served in the New Jersey legislature.
