The Jacques Barzun Prize honors historian and cultural critic Jacques Barzun, University Professor Emeritus of Columbia University, a member of the American Philosophical Society since 1984. A gift from Roger Williams, Distinguished Professor of History Emeritus at the University of Wyoming, a former student of Professor Barzun, funds this prize. It is awarded annually to the author or authors whose book exhibits distinguished work in American or European cultural history.
Eligibility
Authors must be citizens or permanent residents of the United States. Books must be written in English, and published in the United States between January 1, 2012 and December 31, 2012. Books must be single-authored volumes, not collections of articles or edited texts. The subject must be American or European cultural history.
Deadline for submission
Authors and publishers are invited to submit entries for the 2012 prize by January 31, 2013. There is a 3-book limit per publisher, whether books are submitted by the publisher or directly by an author.
