From the First Edition of The Journals of Lewis and Clark
A Map of the Track of Lewis and Clark [1]
The American Philosophical Society has printed a faithful reproduction of William Clark's Map of Lewis and Clark's Track Across the Western Portion of North America that appeared in the first edition of History of the Expedition Under the Command of Captains Lewis and Clark (Philadelphia, 1814). The original copper plate from which this map was printed has been housed in the collections of the American Philosophical Society since 1817. The copper plate was last used to print a limit number of maps in 1979, after which it was retired.
This accurate reproduction was produced by means of offset lithography using the Society's copy of the 1979 edition map, and is available in two versions, a "regular" edition printed on 100# Mohawk Superfine Smooth Cover paper ($50.00), and a "special" edition printed on Arches Platine White paper ($75.00). Each map comes with an explanatory pamphlet.
