William Nelson Fenton is an anthropologist and ethnologist specializing in Iroquoian studies.
Includes: 1. Walt Winthrop and John Leverett, memorial on behalf of Massachusetts to John Lord Lovelace, Governor of New York, 3 pages. (Copy, April 19, 1709), concerning French influence on Indians; need to permit Five Nations to act offensively.
2. Chalmers collection of documents, approximately 300 frames, 1750-1775: extracts from treaties, proceedings of councils with various tribes, intelligence at Fort Pitt, letters of Sir William Johnson, George Croghan, and others.
3. Schuyler Indian papers, 1710-1797: papers generally relating to General Philip Schuyler and his negotiations with Indians, 1775-1797, approximately 600 frames.
