The John Mifflin receipt book is a fairly straight forward collection. Mifflin had some involvement in financing the Pike Expedition, some record of which is in the transactions of the receipt book. He was also a prominent Philadelphian. As such, names of other prominent Philadelphians with whom he conducted business are recorded. The Mifflin receipt book is unusual in one respect. Occasionally, Mifflin provides hisotrical details on his property.
