Meriwether Lewis and William Clark were explorers. Nicholas Biddle was requested by William Clark to write a narrative of the Lewis and Clark Expedition, which was published in 1814 as "History of the Expedition of Captains Lewis and Clark."

This collection contains two volumes, both of which have been published elsewhere. The first consists of a travel journal, likely kept by Meriwether Lewis, on his trip from Pittsburgh west to Winter Camp in 1803. The second volume contains a list of questions Nicholas Biddle had for William Clark. These queries include Clark’s response.
