Abstract

Two bound manuscripts in French: "Lettre de Thrasibule a Leucipe" and "Lettre a E." The former is credited on the title page to Nicolas Freret (1688-1749), but has been attributed to d'Holbach.

Scope and content

One volume (Manuscript, 410 pages) is titled "Lettre de Thrasibule a Laucipe. Ouvrage critique historique & Metaphysique par Mr. Freret de L'academie des inscreptiona et belles lettres, mort en 1749, addressee a sa Soeur Religieuse. Dix-huitième siécle." This work, long attributed to Nicolas Frèret, has been proved by Walckenaër to be the joint production of d'Holbach, Naigeon and Lagrange. Cf. Hoefer, v.18, (1858) col. 818. The other volume (Manuscript, 390 pages) is titled "Lettres a E..... - Une bonne morale est l'antidote le plus sur contre la superstition et le fanatisme." A table of contents is in the back.
