Early American History
The APS holds a great deal of images and texts related to the early stages of American history. This collection contains images related to prominent founding figures, early citizens, and important events, largely before 1840. Of particular note are examples of early photography from the various Peal collections, and a wide variety of prints from the APS prints collection. Textual material including a significant number of letters to and from Thomas Jefferson as well as rare and important manuscripts are also available. The Early American material may be viewed in its entirety, or by the collection from which they were drawn.
