Recordings of traditional stories, autobiographical narratives, and conversations given by 11 Algonquin speakers in Kitiganik, Quebec.

Donated by Christian Artuso in 1998 (Acc. 1998-536r). This material was recorded with the assistance of a Phillips Fund grant.

Collection digitized and cataloged by Brian Carpenter during the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation funded audio digitization project, 2008-2014.

Related material

A masters thesis, "Noogom gaa-izhi-anishinaabemonaaniwag: Generational Differences in Algonquin," containing partial transcriptions and translations of the recordings along with information on the speakers and linguistic analysis is available in the Phillips Fund Collection (Mss.497.3.Am4).
